IMPACT OF SMOKELESS TOBACCO USE ON DISTRIBUTION OF VESSEL INVOLVEMENT IN PATIENTS WITH ACUTE MYOCARDIAL INFARCTION

Objectives: Despite widespread use of smokeless tobacco (ST) in Pakistan, a very limited empirical evidence have been reported regarding its impact on the coronary anatomy and obstructions. Therefore, this study was conducted to compare angiographic profile users smokers with non-tobacco presented acute myocardial infarction (AMI). Methodology: Consecutive patients AMI were stratified four groups as non-users (G1), solo ST (G2), both smoking (G3), (G4). Coronary findings number diseases vessels infarct related artery recorded. Results: Out 326 patients, 28.2%(92), 6.4%(21) conjunction reaming 21.8%(71) without smoking. Females 19.7%(14/71) G2, 4.8%(1/21) G3, 0% G4. Young (≤ 40 years) 3.4%(5/149) G1, 9.9%(7/71) 14.1%(12/85) G4, 23.8%(5/21) G3 cumulatively making 82.8%(24/29) young patients. Single vessel disease (SVD) left anterior descending (LAD) significantly higher among user compared distribution 46.7% vs. 34.2% 70.7% 56.4% respectively. Conclusion: The localization involved are same that SCD LAD common findings. Tendency is also high female Tobacco either form, or smokeless, alarmingly (>80%) (≤40 AMI.
